WHO

I count twenty years as a professional in the built environment sector. I have worked across a variety of projects, initially as a designer, shifting later to construction and, subsequently, to managing and leading multidisciplinary teams & projects. In 2005 I founded my own practice and worked as a consultant and project manager with international teams, acquiring a wealth of experience in cross-cultural environments. I have been involved in a wide range of projects, from new residential developments to the renovation and retrofit of old or historic buildings, in mega-projects to large-scale civil infrastructure, and as a consultant to companies, managing their built asset portfolio.

Throughout my life, I have been an advocate of the implementation of Information Technology in the Architectural, Engineering and Construction Industry (AEC). As such, I am providing consulting for the implementation of BIM and IT solutions to the sector. In 2014 and having identified a gap in the Facility Management of niche holiday residencies in Greece, I developed a cloud-based application and co-founded a start-up, based on the Aegean islands, offering FM services to holiday home-owners.

I am passionate about architecture, built heritage and the applications of Information Technology in the built environment. Within this context, I have participated in numerous committees and workgroups, promoting the digitisation of the industry, while I perform independent research. One of my dreams is to combine IT with built heritage and put advanced tools at the hands of the conservation specialist and historian.

I hold a certificate for the 3D survey of buildings and monuments by the Institute of Continuing Education of the Technical Chamber of Greece and I have completed the RIBA Advanced Conservation Course. In 2012 I developed an augmented reality application to record the heritage buildings of Athens (listed and non-listed) and in 2013 I had the opportunity to publish a part of my work in The Journal of Modern Greek Studies by the Johns Hopkins University Press.

I am writing and publishing articles regarding my research interests in the Greek press and online.

I am a Civil & Structural Engineer by training, with a Master’s in Engineering Seismology (Imperial College) and a Master’s in the Interdisciplinary Design for the Built Environment (Cambridge). I am a Licensed Dip. Engineer in Greece, a Chartered Engineer in EU and a Full Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ice) in the UK, as well as an affiliate member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA).

I am curious about (almost) everything, I love reading, writing and sketching, playing music and learning languages. I have an ever-expanding list of things “to-do” and I currently live in Cambridge-UK with my wife, Iro, a psychoanalyst.
